His mother's illness prompted him to pursue a career in medicine, becoming emergency medical technician who can empathize with injured people on the scene.

My mother's illness was what prompted me to aim to become emergency medical technician. When I was in high school, my mother's illness worsened and I had to provide care at home, but I realized how difficult it is to be there for the physical and emotional pain that comes from illness. The feelings I had at that time made me want to become a medical professional who can empathize with the hearts of injured and sick people.

There are many medical jobs available, but I was attracted to the work of emergency medical technician, who can relieve the pain and anxiety of injured people at the scene of an emergency, so I enrolled at Teikyo University, where I could obtain a national qualification as emergency medical technician.

Teikyo University has Emergency Medical Technician Course in Department of Sport and Medical Science, so my classmates and I studied for civil service exams and national exams with the common goal of becoming emergency medical technician. We also have fond memories of hanging out and eating together, not just studying. Even though we went our separate ways after graduation, our underlying aspirations remained the same, and meeting these friends who I'll be friends with for the rest of my life is a great asset in my life.

After graduating from university, I joined my first choice, the Tokyo Fire Department, and after six months of training at the fire academy, I was assigned to the Chofu Fire Station. I am currently a member of the pump squad, and I respond to fire scenes and engage in firefighting activities. I also work as a reserve ambulance crew member. In the future, I would like to continue working hard to gain experience in the field so that I can become emergency medical technician I envision.

Alumni Now Vol.1 TOKYO FIRE DEPARTMENT Question 1
Thank you for your words of gratitude.

Since it is our job to rush to the emergency site first, we often receive words of gratitude such as "Thank you for coming" and "It was really helpful", but this is unique to firefighting work. I think. It's a natural job for us, but we're very happy about what's needed and it's rewarding.

A sense of fulfillment in protecting people's lives and property.

I think that being able to protect the lives and property of local residents through their duties is a rewarding job that is unique to firefighting. It is a characteristic that many of the staff members who enter the agency have the desire to "help others." Also, as a civil servant, I think it is attractive to have a system for managing working hours and taking leave. It is an environment that is easy for women to work because they provide generous support during childcare leave and after returning to work.

Unbelievable !!

Question2 What do I need to do to become a firefighter? Question2 What do I need to do to become a firefighter?

Alumni Now Vol.1 TOKYO FIRE DEPARTMENT Question 2
It is important to take measures for the civil service examination.

To become a firefighter, you must pass the civil service exam, so exam preparation is important. At Teikyo University, I was able to take extracurricular courses on civil service exam preparation within the school, so I didn't need to go to a cram school, and I think it was a really great learning environment. I also received guidance on the essay and interview exams from teachers in Emergency Medical Technician Course.

Compassion and communication skills are important.

It is important to have a compassionate heart and communication skills that allow you to accurately convey your thoughts after understanding what the other person wants to say. For example, a guardian who calls an ambulance because his child is sick may feel uneasy. Being able to explain and care for such anxiety is just as important as emergency techniques.

Question3 What is the fun of job hunting? Question3 What is the fun of job hunting?

Alumni Now Vol.1 TOKYO FIRE DEPARTMENT Question 3
The joy of working hard with friends and approaching goals.

I was a type of person who was not good at taking a break from studying and was too rooted, but a friend who saw it invited me to play and eat, saying, "I have to take a rest once in a while." I was able to change my mind because I had friends with the same goals, and by studying while teaching each other, I gained abilities and improved my mock exam scores.

Believe in being a firefighter.

To become a firefighter, you have to pass the civil service exam, so it can be difficult to find fun. However, by studying while envisioning what you will do as a firefighter, you may be able to reaffirm your goals and maintain your motivation. If you feel uneasy, it's a good idea to exercise and change your mood.
