Pharmacists, experts in medicine, play an important role in medical care alongside doctors and nurses, and their importance is rapidly increasing. Teikyo University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences not only trains students in advanced medical knowledge and techniques, but also in basic fields such as chemistry, to develop pharmacists who are well-rounded and have a scientific eye. We take advantage of the excellent medical education environment, including School of Medicine affiliated hospital, to provide practical, on-the-job training.
We provide pharmacy education by utilizing our strengths as a comprehensive medical university.
Educational Goals and Our Three Policies
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is based on Educational Philosophy of "mastering medical care through medicine." We aim to train pharmacists who are trusted by doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals in other fields, as well as patients.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences provides learning support in terms of both facilities and operations, such as providing an environment in which each student can study independently using ICT equipment and Research Center for Pharmaceutical Education, which provides individual study consultations.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medical Technology are all gathered together, allowing students to learn about Team Medical Care in a practical way. Students will acquire the spirit of Team Medical Care in an ideal educational environment where they can learn while being aware of their own field of work.
The Teikyo Yakugakukai is a workshop held once a year for the purpose of postgraduate education. Participants acquire practical knowledge about drug treatment by listening to lectures that cover about two topics per workshop.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has over 30 laboratories, including one supervised by the Pharmacy Teikyo University Hospital, where current students study a variety of research topics.
Located in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, the Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden has been upgraded by reconstructing the greenhouse, making part of the garden's walking paths barrier-free, and improving the pond.
The Research Center for Pharmaceutical Education, the Learning Support Committee, and the instructors work together to provide detailed learning support with the goal of helping students pass the national exam through a practical curriculum.
We nurture pharmacists with a scientific understanding of medicine who are trusted by medical teams and local communities and have specialized knowledge and skills, a rich humanistic disposition, and a mind for research, as well as the ability to identify and solve problems and improve themselves.
Facilities and Equipment Used by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences
The faculty has a pharmacy practice room for conducting basic experiments, as well as a practice room for preliminary training for drug dispensing and drug administration guidance prior to practical training, allowing students to experience what it is like to be on the frontlines of medicine.
