A research group led by Associate Professor has discovered an enzyme that produces a marker molecule that is key to diagnosing the intractable disease "adrenoleukodystrophy."

Teikyo University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory of Physicopharmaceutics, Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization Associate Professor Hirotaro Hama, Faculty Senior Assistant Professor Yuko Fujiwara, Faculty Professor Kazuaki Yokoyama, Faculty Senior Assistant Professor Yoshio Kusakabe and his research group have discovered an enzyme that produces a key marker molecule for the diagnosis of the designated incurable disease "adrenal leukodystrophy".
This research is expected to contribute to more accurate diagnosis of adrenal leukodystrophy and elucidation of the pathogenic mechanism of the disease by elucidating the production mechanism of the diagnostic marker molecules.
The research results were published in the Journal of Rapid Research on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 (Japan Standard Time).
